Safestyle's best year yet: aiming to finish on a high

Safestyle's best year yet: aiming to finish on a highTime's flying by and thanks again for everyone for their continued efforts. We are now in the last quarter of the year and Christmas will be upon us in no time. From now to Christmas the Safestyle Manufacturing factory is extremely busy not only due to the increased volumes which are great news for everyone. This year's TPS projects are in the last phase as we drive to deliver the improvements before the end of 2012.

In Engineering, phase 1 of the capex investment for new machinery in the PVC factory is well underway now. This is a critical project that needs precision planning to ensure we deliver the project without any disruption to customer service or incurring increased cost per frame. This first phase will consolidate all the frame and door welding into one department. The addition of more automated welders and cleaning machines will significantly streamline the welding operation. This in turn will improve the quality of the finished product.

This project consists of nine machine/process moves and two of the moves have been done, while the rest to be completed by Christmas. Both these moves were successful; they were carried out mostly during the working week with no loss of production and in part worked extremely well because of planning before hand, listening to the voice of the customer and the operators/shop floor involvement.

Exciting times are ahead for Safestyle as the project continues to move forward; there is still a lot of work to plan and execute but working together as a team will help us all achieve our goals and our one business aim. We started the year with a boost in Manufacturing, and have continued in that vein throughout 2012.

Now into the final months of the year the processes are being put in place to take Safestyle to the next level next year. The Supply Chain is continuing to work with suppliers with regards to improving customer service and quality. We can only be as strong as our weakest link and by developing our suppliers will help us continually improve. Commodities prices continue to be a worry as still high but we always work with our chosen supplier and bench mark against others to minimise the effects of these potential on costs. We are continuing to drive customer service and are looking at numerous projects with regards to improving this further, but as always, all feedback is appreciated. The big projects going on at Safestyle Manufacturing towards the end of the year will require everyone's hard work and support to ensure we maintain customer service and keep delivering a high quality product.

We have pleasure in welcoming new employees, Kwaku Asante (Planning and Stock Manager), McCauley Hill (Engineering Apprentice), Aaron Fretwell (Production Apprentice) and Ryan Bastow (IT Apprentice) to the business. I am sure everyone will make them feel very welcome.

The Annual Christmas Raffle is also well underway and we'd like to thank all those who have either donated a prize or purchased tickets - your efforts have been recognised and you are helping to raise money for four very worthy causes: NSPCC, RSPCA, Cancer Research and Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.
